Bhopal. Amendment has been made in the group insurance scheme for cleaning workers working in regular pay scale in urban bodies. Now, if a sanitation worker dies in an accident, his family will get an insurance amount of five lakh rupees (Sum Insured of Five Lakhs). Earlier this amount was two lakh rupees. State Urban Development and Housing Minister Bhupendra Singh gave this information on Friday.
He said that in case of normal death, one lakh rupees would be given as before. It may be known that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had announced to increase the insurance amount on the death of cleaning workers.
Minister Bhupendra Singh said that the contribution of sweepers in the insurance scheme will remain Rs 20 per month as before. The remaining amount will be given by the government. The approval of claim cases in the Group Insurance Scheme for Safai Karamcharis will be done by the Directorate of Urban Administration and Development. Orders have been issued in this regard.
